10. Lakeside Lutheran High School begins 60th school year
The 2017-18 school year began with a 4% increase in enrollment at 415 students, as well as one additional math teacher, making the number of full- and part-time faculty members number 33 this year. [Read more here]

9. Wonderful evening of historic Lutheran Reformation celebration
Our A Cappella choir and many Forever Warriors joined with several thousand other Western Wisconsin Lutherans at the Coliseum in Madison to mark the 500th anniversary of Luther’s posting of the 95 theses, a milestone of the Lutheran Reformation. | 2,700 views | 196 Reactions, Comments & Shares [See post here] [See photos here]

8. Warrior FFA wins photo contest
Members of LLHS FFA helped their chapter score $500 as it placed first overall in a six-state high school and college student image contest to document instances from among 14 types of corn disease and damage. The contest was sponsored by San Francisco-based Climate Corporation to further its efforts toward development of a disease database usable by growers in the field. Winners were awarded from each of the six states participating, and the LLHS FFA chapter was tops among all groups that entered. [Read more here]

7. Lakeside Lutheran receives mkCellular donation
As the recipient of a generous donation from mkCellular in Lake Mills of smartphones and virtual reality viewers, your LLHS is moving ahead in classroom technology use as virtual reality becomes a part of curricula as diverse as computer science to biology to history to religion and more. 6. Grand Event VII sets fundraising record

5. History-making student teacher on campus
We were privileged last spring to have Miss Annalies Brander on campus as the first special education student teacher sent out by Martin Luther College. Mrs. Ruth Hirschfeld, Director of the Extended Learning Center at LLHS, served as her mentor. [Read more here]

4. Great heritage, indeed.
Our Warrior Swing Choir joined more than 400 other teen vocalists and instrumentalists at the 50th WELS National Choral Fest, held at the site of the first Festival, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. We posted a video of the combined choir and audience anniversary rendition of “God’s Word is Our Great Heritage” sung during the Sunday Sacred Concert, a low-resolution recording that nevertheless went a bit viral within WELS viewership as it accumulated 30,000 video views and 3,345 Reactions and Comments, including 423 shares on Facebook. We followed up the post with a story about Lakeside and 50 years of Choral Fest in November’s LL Link magazine. [Read more here – p. 4] [See video here]

3. Day 1 of our first-ever STEM Camp has 75+ campers
On the heels of the new Warrior STEM Club formed in late 2016 and preceding the new LLHS STEM Academy curriculum slated to begin in fall 2018, the LL Tech Ed department hosted the first-ever elementary student STEM Camp in July. The week-long day camp exposed grade 5-8 students to engineering concepts, expanded their God-given abilities and provided all of the above in a fun, Christian environment. Interest was so high the camp doubled its teaching staff to accommodate twice the campers originally expected. [See post here] [See photos here]

2. Lakeside Lutheran students make New Friends
Members of Teens for Christ service group have begun a program designed by Jesus Cares Ministries that connects teens with young people with special needs and their families in a fun-filled atmosphere and builds relationships by focusing on abilities, not disabilities. On a Sunday in October, 63 LLHS students greeted 13 guests in the gym for activities that included face painting, cookie decorating and eating, pumpkin-painting, bean bag toss, basketball, manicures, slime-making and card games.  Some unplanned activities—human bowling, the Chicken Dance, and line dancing—also ensued. The day was such fun, two more days are planned for second semester.  [Read more here] [See photos here]

 1. Your Lakeside Lutheran Warriors are D2 state volleyball champions!
It’s hard to narrow down such an array of posts, photos and linked sports articles that accompany such a momentous event as a state sports championship; so, when in doubt, go with the first announcement, and then just enjoy all the reactions and comments.
