Lakeside to host FAFSA workshop

Lakeside Lutheran High School hosts The FAFSA Workshop, a free event for parents and students on Wednesday January 13, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the school. All families are invited to attend and learn how to help students successfully achieve a college degree without exhausting family savings.

FAFSA-FBevent

In this workshop, featured presenter Mary Owen offers both her professional expertise—as a nationally licensed College Planning Relief Specialist—and her personal expertise, as a mother of five college-bound children. Insightful topics include: “Why and how to complete the FAFSA,” “How to avoid over-spending for college,” “Common costly FAFSA mistakes and myths,” “FAFSA, PROFILE, EFC, COA, FAO, APA, IPA,” “FAFSA Secrets—How to determine your EFC,” “How to determine AID ELIGIBILITY” and more. Workshop attendees also receive a professional one-on-one assessment of their family’s unique situation, a college tuition discount valued at $500 at participating universities, and “The ABCs of Financial Aid.”

Owen’s aim is to empower families through proper college planning and knowledge of the financial aid process. She says, “I’ve searched years for this valuable college planning and college funding information. And now that I’ve found it, I feel honored to be able to share it with fellow parents. It’s never too early—or too late—to start planning for your children’s future.”

Families with young children or teens, as well as late-stage planning parents (i.e., with students who are sophomores or older, or even freshman in college), are all encouraged to attend this event.

To register in advance, call the Lakeside Lutheran High School office at (920) 648-2321. Walk-ins are welcome.
